The history of Bishton Hall

Bishton Hall is a Grade II* listed country house on Bellamour Lane in the parish of Colwich. Historic England describes a mid-eighteenth-century house that was extended during the nineteenth century, with a largely complete eighteenth-century interior, an impressive open-well staircase, panelled rooms, historic fireplaces and surviving servants’ bells.

Charlotte Sparrow

Staffordshire Museum Service records that banker John Sparrow built the hall in the 1770s. His daughter Charlotte later added the bowed blocks beside the entrance and lived at Bishton Hall throughout her long life.

Why investigate Bishton Hall?

The hall combines grand rooms, service areas, cellars and long layers of occupation. Previous investigators and visitors have reported unexplained footsteps, voices, knocks, cold areas and the sensation of being watched. These are reported experiences rather than guaranteed activity, and every investigation is different.

This is a genuine overnight event. DeadLive has exclusive access from 8pm until 8am. Guests choosing the full ticket can remain inside after the standard investigation ends and experience the hall during the quietest hours of the night.

What happens during the event?

Guided investigation

Experienced DeadLive investigators will introduce the venue, explain the equipment and lead structured vigils in agreed areas of the hall.

Paranormal experiments

The evening may include controlled vigils, spirit communication methods, table experiments and modern paranormal equipment.

Time to explore

Guests will have opportunities to investigate in teams and compare experiences as the night develops.
