The history of Clifton Hall
Clifton Hall was built around 1845 as part of the Clifton Park villa estate. Historic England records that it was designed by architect Walter Scott as a dwelling before later being remodelled for Masonic use. The building was listed at Grade II on 28 March 1974.
The hall is faced in ashlar stone and has two storeys with a symmetrical four-bay frontage. Its full-height pilasters and decorative egg-and-dart capitals give the building a formal appearance that remains immediately recognisable on Clifton Road.
Its use has changed considerably over almost two centuries. Heritage Open Days records that it began as a private residence, later became a tabernacle and has served as a Masonic hall for approximately a century. That long history has left Clifton Hall with layers of domestic, religious and lodge life to investigate.
The documented history comes from the Historic England listing for Clifton Hall and Heritage Open Days.

No previous ghost hunting experience is needed. Our team will explain the equipment and guide you throughout the night. Paranormal activity can never be guaranteed, but every event is planned as a serious and enjoyable investigation of the location.
