Why Royal Mersey Yacht Club Is a Unique Ghost Hunt Venue
The Royal Mersey Yacht Club is one of the most unusual locations to join the DeadLive calendar.
On Saturday 12 September 2026, guests will enter the historic Birkenhead clubhouse for a five-hour paranormal investigation running from 9pm until 2am.
This is not a former prison, hospital or traditional haunted house. Instead, the Royal Mersey Yacht Club ghost hunt gives guests the opportunity to investigate a private historic building with a long maritime connection to the River Mersey.
A Different Kind of Paranormal Venue
Many ghost hunts take place inside buildings that are already widely associated with supernatural stories.
The Royal Mersey Yacht Club offers something different.
Its atmosphere comes from its history, private rooms and waterside setting. Once the clubhouse becomes quiet and normal activity ends, unfamiliar sounds can become much more noticeable.
Footsteps, movement from adjoining rooms and noises from outside may all need to be examined carefully before anyone reaches a conclusion.
That uncertainty is an important part of a genuine paranormal investigation.
Investigating the Clubhouse After Dark
The evening will begin with registration, introductions and a safety briefing.
Guests will then work in small groups alongside experienced DeadLive team members. Everyone will have opportunities to use the equipment and take part in experiments throughout the building.
The investigation may include:
- EVP and audio recording
- Spirit-box communication experiments
- EMF and environmental monitoring
- Dowsing rods and pendulums
- Traditional vigils
- Quiet observation sessions
- Small-group communication experiments
No previous ghost-hunting experience is needed. The equipment will be demonstrated before it is used.
Guests may also bring their own cameras, voice recorders or handheld paranormal equipment.
A Genuine Investigation
DeadLive events are not staged scare attractions.
There will be no actors, fake ghosts or manufactured paranormal activity. We cannot guarantee that anything unexplained will happen during the night.
Instead, guests will be encouraged to investigate carefully, record their experiences and decide for themselves what may have caused anything unusual.
The Royal Mersey Yacht Club provides a rare opportunity to investigate a distinctive Birkenhead venue after normal hours.
